Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada
The Dartmouth gym on Brownlow Avenue is the newest of Seven Bays' three bouldering gyms, joining the original on Gottingen Street and the Bayers Lake site in Halifax, and was open by June 2025. Seven Bays is a sister gym of Allez Up in Montréal. At 12,000 sq ft, Dartmouth has room for bouldering, a full training area and a café.
The bouldering walls mix overhangs, slabs and vertical faces above thick mats, with new problems every week and plenty of volumes. Staff give every climber a short safety introduction, and a day pass is valid all day at every Seven Bays gym. For training there's a Tension Board 2, hangboards, weights and chin-up bars, and a strength and cardio area at the back with benches, squat racks, bikes and rowers.
Newcomers aged 16 and over can take Bouldering 101, a 90-minute course that comes with a free month's membership, and children from 8 can join weekly recreational classes. Families can climb together for $15 a person in weekend family time slots after 14:00. The café by the welcome desk serves coffee, smoothies and snacks, with seating for working, studying or waiting for children. Children aged 6 to 14 need direct adult supervision, with one adult for every two children, and a parent or guardian must sign the waiver for anyone under 18.

“…Great routes for all levels, clean facilities… We got there right after opening one morning and we were practically the only ones in the gym, so if you want to beat the crowds get there early.”
“Liked the place. Went in with 3 kids 6, 13, 16. To be fair, not much to do for a 6 year old , max couple of climbs. But the other two were having fun…”
“Very open and spacious! Everything is so clean and the walls are nicely textured. The setting is amazing too. I enjoy the comp style routes and I love slab.”
