Boston, Massachusetts, United States
Rock Spot Climbing opened its South Boston gym at 30 Old Colony Avenue in February 2015. It is one of the chain's full-service gyms, with both bouldering and roped climbing: the gym advertises around 11,000 sq ft of bouldering terrain with more than 150 problems, plus 20 to 30 top-rope lines, some of them on auto-belays. The setters post videos of problems from each fresh set, from the Evolv wall to the Cobra Kai cave, on the gym's Instagram.
For training, visitors mention a Treadwall, hangboards, a spray wall and a weights area, and a pro shop sells shoes and gear.
First-time climbers get an orientation from staff, and climbing shoes are required (rentals are available). A day pass costs $35 with gear, and a cheaper Night Owl rate applies in the last two hours before closing. Memberships cover all nine Rock Spot gyms in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. The gym is a short walk from the T, with indoor bike parking and reserved parking spaces.

“Staff are friendly, and guide you step by step on all the forms of climbing. … I do wish there were more forms of beginner boldering stages however.”
