Basildon, England, United Kingdom
Rock Hub runs the climbing wall at Basildon Sporting Village on Cranes Farm Road. It is a compact roped venue with 16 lines of climbing up to 10 metres high, two auto belays, a spray wall and a MoonBoard. The training area adds a campus board, a Power Box and a Beastmaker fingerboard.
Newcomers can book a 75-minute taster with an instructor, or a run of 90-minute Learn to Climb sessions before taking the rope competency check. Once signed off, competent climbers can climb independently and sign in up to two novices. Auto belay "have a go" sessions can also be booked.
Rock Hub also runs outdoor rock taster days, a two-day Transition to Rock course and trad lead coaching. The Sporting Village has a large free car park and a café with a viewing bar overlooking the wall. There are small valuables lockers but no changing rooms at the wall, and all equipment can be hired.
