The Ouray Adventure Center (OAC) sits at 630 Main Street in the middle of Ouray and calls itself the town's first fitness gym. Its climbing is built around a bouldering wall, set on a cycle that keeps each problem up for four to six weeks at most, and two adjustable system boards: a MoonBoard and a Tension Board. There is also a dry-tooling area, useful training for the Ouray Ice Park, and the gym runs a top-rope clinic on its roped section.
A day pass costs $20 for adults and $12 for children. Members pay $65 a month and get a door code for climbing outside staffed hours, which the gym gives as 24/7, along with three buddy passes a month and discounts on gear rental, guided trips and merchandise. The desk is staffed from 08:00 to 16:30, and the gym closes for November, so call ahead if you want to climb then.
The OAC belongs to the team behind Basecamp Ouray and Canyoning Colorado, and its front desk books their via ferrata and canyoning trips and hands out the gear for them. A gym introduction, the top-rope clinic and a gym-to-ice-park course are run on request, although the FAQ says classes are suspended for now.
