Ørland Klatreklubb's climbing hall is in Ørland Sparebank Arena in Brekstad. The club is run by volunteers, and its hall wardens (adults with a Brattkort) staff the drop-in evenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18:00 to 21:00. Changes and extra openings are announced on Facebook.
The roped wall is used for top-rope and lead climbing and has two TruBlue auto-belays, installed in 2020. Since December 2023 the hall has also had a steep MoonBoard, with up to 30,000 problems in its app. Loose chalk is banned, so bring liquid chalk or a chalk ball.
Everyone pays for entry, reads and signs the liability form before climbing and signs the visitor log. Under-18s need a guardian's signature, and children under 13 must be supervised by an adult. Belaying someone on a rope needs a Brattkort or top-rope card (topptaukort), shown to the warden, and only card holders who have had the club's own training may clip in the auto-belays. An adult with a belay card may bring up to four people without one.
The club's two-day indoor beginners' course (NOK 1,200, age 13 and over) prepares you for the Brattkort or top-rope test. It also runs auto-belay courses, and courses on outdoor bolted routes from April to October.
Club members aged 18 and over can buy a 3-, 6- or 12-month access card, which opens the hall from 08:00 to 22:45 every day through the Sesam app.
