About

The Naturfreunde wall in Lenzing

The Naturfreunde Lenzing group's climbing wall is in the Lenzing sports hall beside the school centre at Thal. It's a small wall of about 85 m², 10 metres high, with 16 belay lines and a bouldering area. The group has trained children and young people in sport climbing here for many years, and its young climbers take part in Upper Austrian and national competitions.

Climbing here

Free climbing at the wall is for Naturfreunde members. There's a regular session on Wednesday evenings from 19:00 (until 20:30 in winter) and a Friday afternoon session from 15:00 to 17:00; other times depend on the courses running, and there are no sessions from June to September. Adults and children can learn to belay on the group's courses: in autumn 2026 a three-evening top-rope belay course starts on Wednesday 21 October and a lead belay course on 18 November, for Naturfreunde members at €30 each, with no experience needed and equipment to borrow. The group's office answers the phone on Wednesday evenings.
