Monash Sport runs a small outdoor bouldering wall beside the main entrance to its Peninsula centre, the Monash Peninsula Activity and Recreation Centre (Building W) on Monash University's Frankston campus. It is one of Monash Sport's informal play spaces, which are free to use with no booking, and it has been part of that free offer since at least 2021.
The wall is a set of black panels studded with coloured holds, set in a recess next to the entrance doors with a bed of bark chips to land on. Monash Sport pitches it as somewhere to try bouldering with friends: climbing close to the ground, often moving sideways along the wall rather than up it. Its conditions of use are posted on the wall itself.
As we last found them. Prices change, so check the wall's website before you go.
