Newburyport, Massachusetts, United States
The climbing gym at 40 Parker Street traded for many years as MetroRock Newburyport, and was once called MetroRock North. On 1 October 2026 it became the fourth gym of Salt Pump Climbing Co., the seacoast group that also runs Salt Pump Scarborough, Salt Pump Portsmouth and EVO Rock + Fitness in Portland. Salt Pump calls it a gritty, old-school gym with a long reputation for good route setting, and its members can climb at all four gyms.
It is mainly a bouldering gym, with walls up to about 14 feet high over thick matting. A smaller set of top-rope climbs runs up the taller walls, where auto-belays let climbers without a partner get on too. Roped climbing needs a belay test first. MetroRock also listed system walls, hangboards, campus rungs and fitness equipment for training.
No booking is needed for a normal visit, but day passes are only sold at the front desk. Under-14s must come with an adult, with at least one adult for every five children.
