Lye, Rogaland, Norway
The climbing group of Lye IL, the multi-sport club at Lye in Time municipality, has an 11 m wall in Lyehallen, the sports hall at Kvartsvegen 7. The wall has fixed top ropes, so you can climb anywhere on it or follow routes of different grades marked by coloured holds, and its anchors give plenty of variety for lead climbing. There's also a bouldering wall for climbing at lower heights without a rope.
Since a restart with new coaches on 4 November 2025, the group has trained only on Tuesdays: children aged 5 to 13 from 18:00 to 19:00, and everyone over 13 from 19:00 to 20:00. The club hopes to add more sessions as more volunteers come forward. New climbers can borrow the equipment they need to begin with, and news and updates go out through the group's Spond group.
To take part you need to join Lye IL and sign up to its climbing group; if you're unsure, you're welcome to drop in on a session first to see what it's like. Membership for 2026 costs NOK 1,300 for those over 16 and NOK 975 for children. The club's page doesn't set out Brattkort rules for members, but it asks volunteer coaches to hold a Brattkort and will pay for the course for anyone who wants to coach.
