Bunbury, Western Australia, Australia
The climbing wall at Koolambidi Woola is a free, open-air bouldering wall in Bunbury's youth precinct, on the shore of the Leschenault Inlet at the corner of Blair Street and Koombana Drive, at the entrance to the city centre. It's a large free-standing block painted in panels of blue, with bolt-on holds of different shapes and colours spread across it at bouldering height, over a coloured rubber soft-fall surface between the multi-sports court and the foreshore path.
There's no fee and nothing to book: the precinct is a public space run by the City of Bunbury. There's nothing to hire either, so bring your own shoes and chalk. To report damage, call the City on (08) 9792 7000.
Koolambidi Woola opened on 4 July 2022 in Luciana Park. Its Noongar name means 'celebrating young people': koolambidi are young people aged 12 to 25, and woola means to celebrate. The skate park designers Playce designed it, listing bouldering among its activities, and Advanteering Civil Engineers built it, with funding from the City, Lotterywest and the Australian and WA governments.
