About

Indoor and outdoor walls in the Pielach valley

Kletterzentrum Weinburg is the climbing hall of the Kletter- und Therapiezentrum Weinburg (KTZ) in the Pielach valley. It opened in 2007 and has 1,122 m² of climbing: 700 m² of indoor walls up to 17 metres high and a 422 m² outdoor wall and tower of the same height. More than 100 routes cover all grades and are reset continually. There are beginner routes with fixed top ropes, separate lead walls, two auto-belay lines, matted indoor bouldering zones and an indoor high-ropes Skywalk, which you can only use with one of the centre's guides after booking.

Before you climb

Register on your first visit and say what you can do: you may only boulder, top-rope or lead if you're registered for it, and a partner check is required before every roped climb. Staff brief you before you first use the auto-belays. Under-14s must climb with an adult, and 14- to 17-year-olds can climb alone with a parent's signed consent form. Shoes, harnesses, ropes and belay devices can be hired.

Courses and extras

The Naturfreunde Niederösterreich run taster sessions and courses for adults and children, and the centre offers guided taster climbing for groups of five or more. There is also a bistro, a sauna and steam room, a solarium, a seminar room, a sports hall and a physiotherapy practice. Season-card holders can climb from 07:00 and use a fitness room. During the school summer holidays the hall closes between 13:00 and 17:00 on weekdays.
