About

Indoor and outdoor walls at the sports park

Kletterzentrum Sportpark Walding is the climbing centre at Walding's municipal sports park, run by the local Naturfreunde group's climbing section. Indoors there are more than 180 m² of walls up to 6.5 metres, from vertical faces to steep overhangs with a 6-metre roof, plus a separate bouldering area, with around 100 routes graded from UIAA 3 to 9. Through the changing-room extension, with showers and toilets, you reach the outdoor area: about 240 m² more, split between a covered section up to 6.5 metres and an open 10-metre main wall with another 80 to 100 routes, floodlit until 22:00, and a gravel bed for bouldering up to 3 metres.

Climbing here

The centre is set up for experienced climbers. No top-ropes are hung and the fixed quickdraws only start at about 5 metres, so you lead every route with your own rope (at least 30 metres) and at least six quickdraws, and there's no equipment hire. Since August 2026 day visitors check in at the InJoy gym next door (use the right-hand outside stairs), where day tickets and 10-visit passes are sold, and everyone fills in a one-off registration form before their first visit. Access follows the gym's hours; annual-card holders with an access chip can come in every day from 06:00 to 22:00.

Newcomers can try climbing and borrow gear at the Naturfreunde meet on Monday evenings from about 18:30. The group runs fortnightly training for children from 8 who have done a course, and the local providers Climb-bim and MovingZone run courses for children from 3, young people and adults.
