Kletterzentrum Hermagor is the climbing centre of the Hermagor section of the Austrian Alpenverein, in the gym of the Neue Mittelschule on Hauptstraße. It has more than 500 m² of roped climbing on walls 11.5 to 14 metres high, with about 60 routes graded from 4 to 8a and nine top-rope stations. In summer 2019 the section enlarged the side walls by about 100 m² and added four auto-belays and a children's wall designed by Wieserart. The former gymnastics room is now a bouldering room with 150 m² of climbing.
The centre has opened every winter season, from mid-October to April, since 2003, with public sessions on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Anyone can buy a day ticket, a 10-visit card or an annual card, and Alpenverein members pay less. Annual-card and chip holders can also use the bouldering room every day, all year round. Shoes, harnesses and belay devices can be hired. Children's climbing runs on Wednesdays from 17:00, and the Spider Kids group trains on Fridays with qualified instructors.
Closed for renovation: as of October 2026 the climbing hall and the bouldering room are closed until further notice for extensive building work, including new washrooms, a rebuilt facade and work in the bouldering room. The section hasn't set a reopening date and will announce it on its website.
