Niederwaldkirchen, Upper Austria, Austria
Kletterwand Niederwaldkirchen is run by the Niederwaldkirchen group of Alpenverein Linz in the new gym of the village's middle school (Sporthauptschule). The wall has quickdraws fixed in place for lead climbing, and top ropes hang on its vertical sections. Use the large car park by the bus stop on Mühlstraße: parking in the hall's access road, the schoolyard or on the pavement isn't allowed, and the climbing hall's entrance is on the west side of the school.
The wall opens on Sunday and Tuesday evenings from early October to the end of May, except in the Christmas and Easter school holidays, and visitors can climb without being Alpenverein members. Wear climbing shoes or clean trainers (no bare feet). Adults sign the registration themselves, 14- to 18-year-olds need a parent's signed consent, and children under 14 may only climb with a competent adult who supervises them; parents who don't climb can book their children onto the supervised children's courses.
Beginners are asked to phone before their first visit, and the group recommends learning on a course: its two-Saturday beginners' course for ages 13 and up runs at the hall on 7 and 14 November 2026, with all equipment provided.
As we last found them. Prices change, so check the wall's website before you go.
