Hallein, Salzburg, Austria
Kletterturm Rif is an outdoor climbing tower in the grounds of the Universitäts- und Landessportzentrum Salzburg/Rif (ULSZ Rif), the sports centre and Olympic training centre run for the University of Salzburg and the state of Salzburg in Hallein-Rif. The tower is built from granite blocks and stands 25.8 metres high. Its outside walls carry 27 routes from 3c to 6c, with bolts for rope protection, and there's bouldering too. The inside of the tower is no longer open for climbing.
Anyone can climb with a day ticket, and there's an annual card for regulars. The tower keeps the centre's hours, but as an outdoor facility it closes at 21:30 at the latest (20:30 on Sundays and public holidays), or at dusk if that's earlier. The whole centre is closed on 24 to 26 December, 31 December, 1 January and Easter Sunday. The centre doesn't list equipment hire, so bring your own rope and gear. Parking on site is free.
