Ried im Innkreis, Upper Austria, Austria
Kletterhalle Alpenverein Ried im Innkreis is the sport-climbing hall of the Alpenverein's Ried im Innkreis section, run by volunteers in hall 3 of the Ried exhibition grounds. It has about 600 m² of indoor walls up to 12 metres for top-rope and lead climbing, four auto-belays for climbing without a partner, a children's wall and a bouldering wall with a MoonBoard hold set. Outside, a climbing tower reaches 14 metres. Routes run from UIAA grade 3 to 9 and are reset regularly.
The hall is staffed on weekday evenings. Holders of the half-year and annual cards, which are only for Alpenverein members, can let themselves in with a chip from 06:00 to 22:00 every day, and groups can book other times. Everyone registers once on the hall's ClimbOffice system and accepts the hall rules there. Children up to 14 must climb with an adult; from 15, young people may come alone once a parent has accepted the rules. Shoes, harnesses with belay devices and ropes can be hired, and the hall only takes cash for now. It can close during trade fairs on the exhibition grounds, which are announced in advance. There's free parking nearby.
The section runs taster sessions, beginner and lead courses for adults (including one-day intensive versions) and parent-and-child courses at beginner and advanced levels, booked through its course website.
