Kletterarena Wattens is the municipality of Wattens' climbing hall, on the second basement level of the building at Egger-Lienz-Straße 9. It has 342 m² of lead walls with 33 lines and a 136 m² bouldering wall, with about 100 marked routes on some 3,500 holds, and seating platforms by the entrance.
Weekday evening sessions are hosted by local organisations, the mountain rescue on Mondays, the Naturfreunde on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the Alpenverein on Wednesdays and Fridays, but every session is open to everyone, and at weekends and on public holidays the hall opens at 10:00. It closes for the school summer holidays, on 1 November, 24, 25 and 31 December, 1 January and Unsinniger Donnerstag, the last Thursday of carnival, and sometimes for events and courses.
Fill in the registration form on your first visit: by registering, you confirm that you have basic climbing and belaying skills and can handle the gear you use. Climbers aren't supervised. Under-14s may only come with an adult who supervises them, and 14- to 18-year-olds need a parent's signature to climb on their own. Bouldering is only allowed in the marked bouldering area. A day ticket costs €8.50 for adults, with a reduced rate for under-18s, apprentices and students.
As we last found them. Prices change, so check the wall's website before you go.
