Eidsvåg, Møre og Romsdal, Norway
Nessethallen is the sports hall in Eidsvåg, in the former Nesset municipality, which is now part of Molde. Its climbing wall, built by Tjelmeland Friksjon at the east end of the hall, opened in October 2017. It is 15 metres wide and just over 10 metres high, with 15 rope lines and an overhanging section, and two auto-belays were added in 2020.
The climbing group of Eresfjord IL, the local sports club, runs the wall under an agreement with the municipality: it provides the duty supervisors and looks after safety. Climbing is free, and ropes, harnesses and shoes can be borrowed at no charge. The wall logged 1,395 visits over 99 evenings in 2025.
The wall is open on Tuesdays from 18:00 to 20:00, when many children climb with their parents, and on Thursdays from 19:00 to 21:00, which is usually quieter. On Wednesdays from 17:00 to 19:00 it is used by children, young people and parents from Eresfjord and Eikesdal.
Everyone who climbs must hold a Brattkort or a Topptaukort, or climb with someone who holds a Brattkort: an adult with a Brattkort may supervise one person without a card. Children under 13 must be with a parent or guardian, or with an adult who takes responsibility for at most three children. Climbers sign the wall's liability form, and only chalk balls are allowed. The climbing group has run Topptaukort and Brattkort courses at the wall.
As we last found them. Prices change, so check the wall's website before you go.
