Brampton, Ontario, Canada
The City of Brampton opened a rock wall, a ninja course and a parkour area at Ken Giles Recreation Centre on Bartley Bull Parkway in September 2021. The 25 ft wall has 10 climbing lines fitted with auto-belays, so you don't need a partner, plus a bouldering wall and hang boards. Next to it, the ninja course has a floating bridge, cargo nets, hanging rings and a suspended staircase, and the parkour zone has balance beams, box jumps and an angled run.
Children aged four and over, teens and adults can register for a drop-in session or join instructor-led ninja, parkour and rock climbing programmes. The centre also runs camps and PA day programmes, and groups can book the space.
Climbers must weigh between 30 and 275 lb and wear clean, closed-toe indoor running shoes, with no strings on clothing and long hair tied back. Under-10s need a registered adult on the floor with them for the whole drop-in, with one adult for up to three children, and a parent or guardian must stay on site for 10 to 17-year-olds. Arrive within 15 minutes of the start time, or you may not be let in. The centre is also home to the Brampton Flower City Gymnastics Club.
