About

Bouldering in Grovedale

Industry Boulders is an independent, bouldering-only gym in an industrial unit on Lewalan Street in Grovedale, on the southern side of Geelong, about 1.4 km from Marshall station. There are no ropes or harnesses: problems top out at 4.3 m above deep foam matting, on walls that range from technical slab to a steep cave and overhangs.

In September 2026 the gym opened an expansion with new walls, launched with its Chalked Up Pumpfest competition, which drew more than 140 climbers. Problems carry coloured tags on a chart that runs from green (V0) to pink (V11+), with white mystery tags left ungraded, and climbers can log their ascents on TopLogger.

Facilities

  • A small café serving coffee made with beans from Geelong Coffee Roasters, and pizza from its pizza ovens
  • An upstairs training area for members, with a MoonBoard and a spray wall
  • A small gym with free weights, hangboards and a campus board
  • A gear shop, with 10% off for members
  • Shoe and chalk bucket hire, with free shoe hire on your first visit

Youth programmes

From Term 4 2026 the gym runs four youth programmes: a social Junior Club and a competition-focused Mini Squad for primary-aged children, and a Youth Club and Performance Squad for high-school teens. Children under 15 must climb with a parent or guardian, and the problems best suit climbers aged about 10 and over.
