Bærum, Akershus, Norway
Gneis Lilleaker is a bright, modern climbing centre at Lysaker in Bærum, close to the Oslo border. It shares its building with Brasserie Naturen, a separate restaurant run by Norrøna.
No experience or booking is needed: the auto-belays and bouldering are open to everyone after the centre's introduction, and shoes and harnesses can be hired. Everyone signs a waiver before their first visit, with a separate form for ages 13–17. To belay you need a Brattkort, the Norwegian belay certificate: the centre runs beginner top-rope and lead courses (the top-rope course includes 14 days of free climbing) and holds top-rope and lead belay tests. Adults who only accompany children and don't climb get in free.
The shop sells shoes, harnesses, clothing, chalk and ropes, and reception sells drinks and snacks.

“Giving 2 stars because of a parking system. Its 2 hours free meaning if I want to shower , change clothes and not pay for parking you can never climb more than 1.5 hour…”
“A great climbing gym, excellent routesetting. The overall design of the gym is neat, good work out area, a circuit wall, kilter board and tons of lead climbing.”
“Really nice gym. Not crowded, good and varied routes and nice prices. Need to mention the beautiful views too.”
