ORL Climbing Wall (Feather River College)

Climbing at Feather River College

The ORL Climbing Wall is the indoor climbing wall of Feather River College's Outdoor Recreation Leadership (ORL) programme in Quincy, Plumas County. It stands in the ORL/ART building on the college campus at 570 Golden Eagle Avenue and has been part of the programme's facilities since at least 2017. Its grey panels are set with top-rope routes marked in coloured tape, and the programme uses the wall to teach its climbing courses, including climbing wall instructor training.

Community Climbing Nights

The wall opens to the general public at ORL's Community Climbing Nights. In autumn 2026 they run on Mondays from 4pm to 6pm between 5 October and 16 November, at $10 a session. The 2025 sessions ran from 4pm to 7pm and cost $8 with all gear included. For anything else, such as group visits, ORL asks people to email orl@frc.edu.

Beyond the wall

ORL is the college's outdoor leadership degree programme, teaching hands-on courses in climbing, whitewater kayaking and rafting, backpacking and wilderness first response in the surrounding Plumas National Forest, which it calls its Million Acre Classroom. New community climbing dates and courses are posted on ORL's Instagram and Facebook pages.
