Ethos Climbing is an independent bouldering gym at 128 Queens Quay East, on Toronto's waterfront. Built by Walltopia, it fits around 3,500 square feet of climbing surface into a 4,200-square-foot space with tall windows, and a freestanding boulder greets climbers at the entrance. Problems are graded on the gym's own 1 to 13 scale, and two of its eight wall sections are reset each week, on Mondays and Tuesdays, for a full rotation every four weeks.
A Kilter Board anchors the training area, which also has a hangboard, a pull-up bar, dumbbells and resistance bands. Every new visitor gets an orientation and fall test before climbing. Beginners can book Core Elements, a 90-minute introduction to technique, and members and day-pass holders can join free coached sessions: Kilter Class on Saturdays and Sunday School for help with projects. Private coaching is available too.
The on-site café serves coffee and a seasonal menu, and its tables, seating and power outlets make it easy to work or study between climbs. Ethos is an adult-oriented gym with no children's programmes, and under-13s must be closely supervised.

“It is very apparent that the route setters enjoy setting dynamic climbs that are great no matter your skill level. My only complaint is that there were not enough power oriented cave routes.”
“Great climbing gym for all skill levels! Very kind and helpful staff, with clean amenities. And a great location next to the lake.”
“A stunning new gym with lots and lots of natural light, the biggest kilter board they make and World Cup holds and volumes… they have a proper espresso machine with great coffee…”
