Escalade Les Montagnards is a climbing club set up in 2015 by five young climbers, based at the climbing wall in Olne's sports hall on Chemin des Écoliers. The wall was built by Salvator on the advice of former world champion Muriel Sarkany, over a high-safety Sol-o-Safe mat. It has 60 routes from grade 3 to 7c+, with quickdraws in place for lead climbing and plenty of volumes to make the climbing more technical, and the club's own team sets the routes.
Anyone can come to the open climbing sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings, beginners included: the club's team keeps an eye on things and gives first-timers a short briefing. The entry price includes equipment and insurance, and regulars can buy 11-session cards or three-month and annual subscriptions.
The club runs weekly courses for children from age 7 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and from 2026-27 on Tuesdays too, including a group for adults aged 16 and over. Children on the courses can also come to the open sessions. Private lessons teach you to climb independently in the hall, and the club organises crag outings and group sessions for schools and youth movements. Dimension Sport also holds climbing courses in the hall on Thursday afternoons and evenings.
