Crux Bouldergym in Herk-de-Stad calls itself the first bouldering hall in Limburg. It is open every day, including public holidays, from late afternoon on weekdays (from 15:00 on Wednesdays) and from the morning or early afternoon at weekends, closing only around Christmas and New Year. Schools and groups can book visits during the day. Parking, changing rooms, showers and the training equipment are free to use, climbing shoes can be hired, and there is a climbing shop.
Beginners can take the Basiscursus Boulderen, an introductory course of three sessions run in series through the year. The hall's club, Crux Climbing Team vzw, is affiliated to the Klim- en Bergsportfederatie and trains here: Crux Kids for 6- to 12-year-olds on Sunday mornings, Crux Jeugd from age 12 on Wednesday evenings, and a competition team for experienced climbers on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Climbing camps for children aged 6 to 12 run in the school holidays.
Crux holds its own annual competition, the Crux Bouldercompetition, in late January, after closing for a few days to set it. In 2026 it had a morning session of 40 boulders for climbers aged 8 to 16 and an afternoon session of 50 boulders for over-16s, with podiums including an over-40 category, cash prizes and a spaghetti meal for every competitor. The hall also hosts a Limburg round of the Regional Climbing Youth Cup and a kids' competition in the spring. Foreign bank cards aren't accepted at the desk.
