The climbing wall inside Cootamundra Sports Stadium on Adams Street opened to the public in February 2023, a $250,000 council project paid for by the NSW Stronger Country Communities Fund, and was the first indoor climbing wall in the Riverina. It stands 8 metres high and has nine lanes, each on a twin-point auto-belay, so you can clip in and climb without a partner. The routes run from easy terrain for first-timers to harder lines for climbers with more experience.
The stadium has change rooms with showers, accessible toilets and a kiosk. Schools can book the wall for groups outside public climbing times, and the stadium hosts birthday parties.
The stadium belongs to Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council. L+R Group has managed it, together with the town pool; from 1 November 2026 LeisureSafe Australia takes over both under the new Cootamundra Leisure name, with the same opening hours and climbing prices for the new season still to be announced.
As we last found them. Prices change, so check the wall's website before you go.
