Climber Collective is an independent bouldering gym in an industrial unit on York Road, Jamisontown, in Penrith. It calls itself a boutique bouldering space and puts a warm, inclusive community first, with a stated welcome for LGBTQIA+ climbers.
The walls were built by ICP and stand 4 to 4.5 metres high, with angles running from slabs just past vertical to 35-degree overhangs. Problems are graded on eight colours, from yellow (easiest) through blue, purple, green, orange, red and black to white (hardest), plus multicoloured wildcards and pink down-climbs, and new climbs go up every Wednesday. A small training area has a campus board, hangboards and free weights.
Small-group courses run on Friday afternoons: a three-week bouldering technique course for adults and a six-week Teens Bouldering Club for 14 to 17-year-olds. The gym also hosts its own Halloween bouldering competition, Boulder Force.

“great little bouldering gym. whoever is setting the routes here is doing a great job, they were super fun problems, had a great afternoon climbing.”
“I like the clear layout and the notification of which route will be next to change. It’s a bit more expensive than the other local climbing place, which is the only reason I gave it 4 not 5 stars.”
“A fun and welcoming atmosphere, great for first-timers. … Everyone is willing to offer advice on how to get up/down a course and verbal encouragement abounds.”
