Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Climb YEG is an outdoor climbing facility in Louise McKinney Riverfront Park, in the river valley just below downtown Edmonton. Run by Offbeat Entertainment, it calls itself Canada's only dry-tool climbing facility. Everything happens outdoors, so come dressed in layers for the weather.
The centrepiece is a tower of around 21 m built for the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup, which Edmonton hosted in 2025 and 2026 and hosts again, together with the Youth World Championships, in February 2027. Dry-tool routes, climbed with ice tools and crampons on plywood walls and holds, run up to 72 ft on top rope or lead, and there is also a dry-tool bouldering area. Ice climbing takes over in winter, while summer brings a competition speed wall and a multi-pitch sport-climbing training wall.
Opening is seasonal and depends on the weather. Fall training runs on Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings until late November, and the winter ice season runs from late November to late March. A drop-in day pass costs $20, with rentals for $5. Newcomers can book a one-hour Try Dry Tool session with an instructor and gear for $35, or a two-hour Intro to Ice Climbing for $45 in winter; ice climbing is recommended for ages 12 and up. There are also multi-week foundations courses, Leading Ladies programmes for women, youth competition training for 12 to 17 year olds, private lessons and group bookings. Visitors complete a waiver online before climbing, and free two-hour parking is available nearby.

“Superfun with sport climbing, dry tooling (top rope and bouldering), and even a working speed wall. An amazing gem unique to Edmonton!”
