Boulderzaal Topo is Tienen's first bouldering hall, opened on 7 February 2026 by three climbers in a former theatre hall on the Grote Markt that was last used by a circus school. The old auditorium, with its high, light-strung ceiling, now holds about 400 m² of climbing wall over thick matting, with around 100 problems across all levels. A training room has an adjustable Kilter Board, and there is a colourful area for children.
The bar serves drinks to climbers and non-climbers alike, and there is a quiet garden to sit in the sun after a session. Climbing shoes and crash pads can be hired, and you may only climb in clean shoes that aren't worn outdoors. Groups, schools, team-building events and birthday parties can be booked, usually outside opening hours.
Children and teenagers aged 6 to 16 can join twelve-week lesson series on Wednesday afternoons or Saturday mornings, in groups for ages 6 to 8, 9 to 12 and 13 to 16, and the hall runs holiday camps that mix bouldering with games in and around Tienen and end with a small competition. Topo has started its own local bouldering competition, TOPO TOPT, open to all levels, and hosts a round of the Regional Climbing Youth Cup. Parking with a parking disc is free for four hours a two-minute walk away, and Tienen station is about eleven minutes on foot.
