BlocBox Training is a small bouldering and training gym in arch 83 of Innsbruck's railway viaduct, the Viaduktbögen. Its climbing is on one 4 × 4 metre Grasshopper Grand Master board, whose angle can be set anywhere from 10° to 55°, with more than 15,000 problems in all grades on symmetrical holds, from jugs to crimps, slopers and pinches. Hangboards, a campus board, a pull-up bar, weights and yoga mats complete the training kit, and you can connect to the speaker to play your own music.
There's no staffed desk: you book a slot online, and the QR code emailed to you opens the door 15 minutes before it starts. Sessions run daily from 09:00 to midnight in half-hour steps. A single ticket costs €5 an hour with a two-hour minimum, and at most six climbers share each slot. Groups of up to ten can book the whole room for a private session, and it also hosts children's birthday parties and bachelor parties. Early Bird subscribers can climb every morning from 05:00 to 09:00. Tuesday and Thursday evenings, mostly from 18:00, are kept for the gym's regular events and can't be booked. Everyone climbing must sign the terms of use.
“Perfect training gym, feels like bouldering in your own living room. Cool temperatures despite the heat outside. 5*”
