Seekirchen am Wallersee, Salzburg, Austria
AV GymRock is the climbing wall of the Alpenverein's Seekirchen group (Ortsgruppe Seekirchen of the Sektion Salzburg). The group built it in the sports hall of the Bundesgymnasium Seekirchen am Wallersee with years of volunteer work, and owns it. It has about 212 m² of climbing up to 9.3 metres high, with around 34 routes from UIAA 3 to 8 on vertical, slabby and overhanging panels and curved fibreglass sections, plus a 20 m² boulder wall that tilts electro-hydraulically up to 40 degrees. Both top-rope and lead climbing are possible.
The group invites climbers from the Flachgau and neighbouring Upper Austria, not only members, to its open sessions (Freies Klettern) on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Friday evenings are kept for the club's groups. The 2026/27 season runs from 22 September 2026 to 30 June 2027, with no open sessions from 20 December to 6 January, and the wall is closed over the summer. Members of alpine clubs pay less and should show their membership card without being asked. Ropes, harnesses, shoes and belay devices can be hired, and the group runs occasional beginners' courses at the wall.
