Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard, Quebec, Canada
Attitude Montagne is an adventure company in Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard, in the Laurentians, offering rock and ice climbing, mountaineering and ski courses and trips, with lodging on site. At its base on chemin de l'Avalanche it runs a small bouldering gym, designed as a training centre for the region's climbers rather than a play area, and meant to be usable by early risers and night owls alike.
The 1,200 sq ft room has 900 sq ft of climbing walls, set up as a spray wall: the walls are covered in holds, and the problems are created by the climbers who use it and shared in the STŌKT app. Training equipment includes a campus board, a 14 ft module with cracks of different widths, free weights and a treadmill.
The gym works on memberships only, with no day passes: $65 for a month, $135 for three months, $230 for six months or $375 for a year, plus tax, at the same price for all ages. It's for independent climbers only, and you need to show an accreditation from another climbing centre when you join. You may find yourself climbing alone, so bring a phone. Up to three climbers can be on the walls at once, under-18s must be with an adult who is also a member, and members can't let non-members in. There are no toilets in the gym itself.
As we last found them. Prices change, so check the wall's website before you go.
