Erzurum, Turkey
Atatürk University's climbing wall is a freestanding outdoor tower beside the Faculty of Sport Sciences on the university's main campus in Yakutiye, Erzurum. It stands 22.5 metres tall and is topped by a sculpted double-headed eagle, with two angled arms rising from a central pillar. The inner faces of the arms and the pillar carry colour-coded routes with volumes, bolted lead lines and top-rope anchors.
The wall belongs to the Faculty of Sport Sciences, and the university's outdoor sports club, the Doğa Sporları Kulübü, trains students on it. The faculty holds a traditional sport-climbing competition every year (in 2024 alongside its Republic Day climb in late October), and it uses the wall for first-year orientation and for climbing sessions with children with special needs. In April 2025 the tower hosted Erzurum's school-sport climbing championship, with 126 pupils from 10 schools.
The wall isn't run as a public gym, and no opening hours or prices are published. The faculty's October 2024 climbing events were open to anyone who wanted to take part; at other times, contact the Faculty of Sport Sciences.
