Alamosa, Colorado, United States
The Adams State Adventure Program (ASAP) runs this climbing wall inside the Rex Activity Center, a gymnasium built in 1938–39 on First Street in Alamosa that now houses the university's fitness and wellness centre. Built by Eldorado Climbing Walls, the 2,400 sq ft wall has top-rope and lead routes as well as bouldering, with climbing for beginners right through to competitive climbers.
The wall is open to students, staff and the wider San Luis Valley community. Everyone aged 12 and over needs a day pass or a Climbing Wall Membership, and children aged 4 to 11 climb free when a parent or guardian with a membership supervises and belays them. Ropes are used only while the wall is staffed, but members can boulder whenever the Rex is open. Membership also covers indoor equipment rental and the wall's skills classes, clinics and workshops.
The Rex also has free weights, weight and cardio machines, a racquetball court and locker rooms.
