Gloucester, England, United Kingdom
270 Climbing Park sits on Bentham Lane at the foot of the Cotswolds, between Gloucester and Cheltenham. Its main roped hall, C2, has over 2,000m² of climbing surface: indoor walls of 15 to 17m, an 18m outdoor lead wall, 20 auto belays, a 15.5m pillar, outdoor IFSC speed walls and routes graded from 4 to 8c+. The hall is air-conditioned. A smaller hall, C1, has 9m walls with auto belays, lower-offs and mini speed walls, used mainly for NICAS and groups.
B2, the main bouldering gym, is split over two levels with more than 180 problems, five slab walls, a cave, a 12m-long 78° roof, a Kilter Board, a spray wall, an outdoor comp wall and a training gym. B1 is a short-reach area for beginners, shorter climbers and children under seven. Problems use the centre's own scale of levels 1 to 7 with grey, red and black skill tags, and everything is reset roughly every seven weeks.
The site also has Fun Walls for children, a high ropes course, and a 100-seat café bar serving coffee, sourdough pizzas, burgers and a licensed bar. Members join the Independent Climbing Wall Collective, which gives one free visit a month to other member walls.
